Our next meeting is date for September is TBD at the VFW 805 hall in O'Fallon, IL.
Begin by completing a family tree (pedigree chart) along the line you consider likely to go back to the 1760s or earlier. This may be one or more lines and is doesn't have to be your surname. Family connections through marriages are fine, but direct paternal lines do exist. Once you begin to do this, you will begin to see family patterns. You can use the SAR Patriot Research System (PRS) at https://sarpatriots.sar.org/
At the top, you can conduct a "Patriot Search," "Member Search," or a "Descendant Search" that may help identify a patriot ancestor or a distant family member that was or is a SAR member. You can also check the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Genealogy Research Database in a similar manner.
You can find more information on how to apply at: https://www.sar.org/how-to-apply/
