Isham Blankenship Sr. (1740 - 1816)

Isham was born in 1740 in Chesterfield, Colonial Virginia. He was the son of John Buckley Blankenship and Elizabeth Hudson. In 1756 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, Virginia he married Sarah Wilkinson. The couple had 10-11 children. At the close of the French and Indian War they moved from Chesterfield, VA to Bedford, VA, along with his brother Hudson. Shortly after, they moved their family to Rutherford, North Carolina. It is here he passed away in 1816. He is buried at the Blankenship Family Cemetery in Rutherford.
